Some of the biggest and best Middle East megaprojects coming to the Arab world this year, some of these insane ideas are already coming to fruition.

50 — Sharq Crossing

In what will be the World’s largest arch span when it is completed, The Sharq Crossing will feature three bridges and two tunnels covering a total distance of twelve kilometres.

Built upon islands in the sea where the roads rise and fall, the islands will feature space for various recreational activities as well as a marina.

The project, recently green-lighted by the Qatari government is expected to cost around $12 billion dollars and redefine the Doha skyline.

When the project is complete, it is estimated that over 6,000 vehicles per hour are expected use the crossing.

49 — Lusail

Currently the second largest city in Qatar, Lusail is an ever expanding megacity that is located 23 kilometres north of Doha.

Once completed, the city will eventually have the infrastructure to accommodate 450,000 people.
